Laurie Lambrecht: texere: in nature with lens and hand
Laurie Lambrecht’s exhibition is timed to coincide with the publication of her new monograph, LAURIE LAMBRECHT texere. The show encompasses the artist's varied mediums and idiosyncratic techniques developed in response to infinite textures and hues observed in nature. From the woods and beaches near her Bridgehampton studio, to habitats explored during artist residencies in the United States and abroad, each setting inspires new compositional motifs. The Latin word texere, translated as "to weave or intertwine" is the etymological root of "texture," "textile," and "text"—three elements at the core of Lambrecht's practice.
