On view from Friday, August 14th through Sunday, October 4th, the exhibition features works by contemporary East End artists Jack Ceglic (b. 1935), Eric Fischl (b. 1948), Mats Gustafson (b. 1951), Francine Fleischer (b. 1960) and Patricia Maurides (b. 1957) in dialogue with selections from the estates of 20th-century artists Costantino Nivola (1911-1988) and Dorothy Cole Ruddick (1925-2010) and iconic artists in the self-taught canon, James Castle (1899-1977) and Frank Walter (1926-2009).

The human form has captivated the imagination of visual artists for millennia. Whether inspired by a quest for rendering the unique traits of an individual subject, or driven by the search to develop imagery that conveys a memory or universal archetype, the impetus to represent the body has been a constant throughout history. The show presents a window on figuration across cultures and generations in mediums that range from painting, sculpture, watercolor and drawing to photography.
